FINE LINE TATTOOS
What are Fine Line Tattoos?
Fine line tattooing uses small needles (often a single or a small cartridge with a tight grouping of 3 needles) to create a thin, delicate, intricate tattoo design often consisting of script writing or small detailed images on the skin using black and grey and color tattoo ink. Fine line tattoo artists employ more precision and detail on design more than shading, with fewer bold lines and more attention to artistry. A fine line tattoo is softer, thinner, and lighter than traditional tattoos.
This service is performed by Maya
Is a consultation required or offered before booking?
Consultations are done via our booking form and via email so we can compile the necessary information we need to approve your requested design and book your appointment.
You will be required to send us photos of where you want your tattoo to be placed (location on the body) and any inspo photos if you have any. Please fill out our booking request form on the "Book Appointment" page to submit your request.
Be sure your photos are taken in good lightening and the image is clear.
How many sessions are required?
Most Fine Line Tattoos will only require 1 session; however, in some cases, a touch up may be recommended depending on how the tattoo healed from the initial session. We do recommended coming back for a touch up 1 year after the tattoo was initially done to extend the longevity of the tattoo.
You will receive an email 4 weeks after the initial session where we will ask for a photo of your healed tattoo. Maya will then determine if she thinks another session is necessary to obtain the best long term results for your tattoo.
How long do they last?
Many Fine Line Tattoos will last for up to a decade before a touch up is recommended. Fine Line Tattoos should never fade completely as the ink is being implanted into the dermis layer of the skin (this is the permanent layer). There are many factors that can cause your tattoo to prematurely fade such as: Prolonged sun exposure, not protecting your skin with SPF, exfoliating the area often, improper healing techniques, etc.
Is it painful?
The degree of discomfort may depend on several factors such as the location of the application and your personal pain tolerance. Most clients will report up to a level 3 on a 1-10 pain scale. After the initial outline of the tattoo has been completed, a secondary numbing solution will be applied directly onto the freshly tattooed skin that will help to minimize any discomfort. Reapplying numbing throughout the procedure may negatively affect your results, so we will refrain from doing so unless you are unable to continue the procedure without.
I got a Fine Line Tattoo done elsewhere and I want it covered up, can I book with you?
You will need to send us a photo of the tattoo before booking an appointment.
You can send your photo either via text to (910) 629-2769 or you can email them to maya.holliewoodbrows@gmail.com.
In most cases, we will not work over pre-existing tattoos as covering up fine linework with more fine linework is not practical.
