BROWS & BEAUTY
What is Powder / Ombre Brows?

Powder / Ombre eyebrows allows you to achieve the look of fuller eyebrows with the use of a handheld mechanical machine creating tiny dots of pigment by the artist. This is also referred to as powder brows. The procedure is ideal for any skin type and great for those with thinning brows and sensitive skin. Even oily skin is fine for the treatment and microshading offers darker pigment and resulting thicker, fuller looking brow hairs.

Powder brows can be combined with Microblading which is called, combo brows. Typically, we will begin your appointment by applying hair strokes with microblading and we will finish your appointment by using the microshading machine hand tool to create a shadow effect that will help to blend the strokes that were previously placed.

Are Powder Brows painful?

The degree of discomfort may depend on several factors such as if you decide against using numbing solution, the location of the application, and your personal pain tolerance. A numbing cream will be applied at the beginning of the service before the mapping process to allow enough time for the product to soak in through the top layer of the skin. You may feel slight scratching during the first part of the application. After the first application with the machine has been completed, a second numbing solution will be applied directly onto the freshly applied shading that will allow the numbing solution to penetrate the skin even further and at this time, you should have little to no discomfort.

What can I expect during my Powder Brow appointment?
A typical Powder Brow procedure will take 2-3 hours to complete.
-
We will begin the service by filling out and reviewing client consent forms
-
We will discuss your healing expectations and go over your aftercare instructions where you will be provided with your aftercare kit
-
We will go back to the service room and begin with a consultation to discuss your desired results, look at inspo photos, and I will have you lay down on the table so I can take a good look at your brows under professional lighting
-
While you're laying down, I will take before photos and videos upon consent
-
Your brow area will be sanitized with a medical grade alcohol prep pad
-
I will map your brow shape using pre-inked string and a soft pencil
-
I will ask you to sit up so I can review the shape that I created and continue to map the shape using measuring rulers, mapping string, and a pencil
-
We will both look at your new brow shape in the mirror and make any changes necessary
-
Once we're both happy with the shape, you will lay down on the service table while I prep the tools that I will be using during the service and we will choose your pigment color
-
I will remove any stray hairs that are outside of the mapped shape using a brow razor
-
The procedure will begin and the pigment will be applied with a handheld mechanical machine (similar to a tattoo machine) that implants pigment into the skin with a needle that moves back and forth to create small dots to create a powder or shading effect. The outline of your brow shape is tattooed first, followed by a soft "first pass" to fill in the brow shape with pigment and to open up the skin to prep for numbing
-
Your brow will be covered with pigment using a disposable lip wand to allow the skin to absorb more color
-
The pigment will be removed and numbing gel will be applied over the brow for approximately 1 minute
-
The numbing is removed and we will perform up to 4-5 more passes to add more pigment to the brow
-
I will apply more numbing gel throughout the procedure if you are feeling uncomfortable. For Powder Brows, you can expect to go through approximately 3 "passes" before the brows are complete (some people may require more or less)
-
I will take your after photos and videos and sit you up to double check pigment saturation and symmetry
-
When I am 100% satisfied with your results, I finally reveal to you, your new Holliewood Brows!

The procedure will begin with the microblading portion of the service. Microbladed strokes will be added to either the front of the brow or the entire brow using a handheld blade made up of a row of needles that is dipped in to pigment and lightly cut in to the skin to create hair-like strokes
-
If we are doing a Combo Brow with microbladed strokes in the front of the brow only, I will then outline the rest of the brow with a tattoo machine and single needle and softy fill in the brow shape with pigment to open up the skin to prep for numbing
-
Your brow will be covered with pigment using a disposable lip wand to allow the skin to absorb more color
-
The pigment will be removed and numbing gel will be applied over the brow for approximately 1 minute
-
The numbing is removed and a second "pass" of microbladed strokes is performed where the microblade inserts pigment inside of the same strokes created during the first pass to add more definition
-
Powder shading will be added to the brow in between the microbladed strokes or throughout the entire brow using a tattoo machine and pigment
-
I will apply more numbing gel throughout the procedure if you are feeling uncomfortable. For Combo Brows, you can expect to go through approximately 2 "passes" before the brows are complete (some people may require more or less)

What should I do or know after my appointment?
-
DO NOT get your brows wet for the 7 days post service. Be very careful when showering and washing your face. If you do get your brows wet, gently pat them dry with a clean cloth.
-
DO NOT do any strenuous exercising for the 14 days post service. The salt in your sweat will break down the fresh pigment and cause premature fading
-
DO NOT fully immerse your face in water, use a sauna, or sunbathe for the first 14 days post service
-
DO NOT put makeup directly on the brows for the 14 days post service
-
DO NOT apply or use any product in or around the brow area that was not provided in your aftercare kit such as your healing ointment for 14 days post service. This includes facial cleansers, all forms of makeup, moisturizers, oils, serums, healing ointment that was not provided in your kit, Vaseline, Aquaphor, sunscreen, etc.
-
DO NOT pick at or rub your brows while they are healing! Picking at your brows may result in loss of pigment and will compromise the overall result of the application

-
Days 1-5: Your brows will appear red, dark, thick, and bold.
-
Days 6-10: Your brows will begin to flake, become itchy, and some parts of the brow will appear light when the flaking has begun to shed.
-
Days 10-25: The pigment in your brows will start to return and may only appear slightly patchy.
-
Days 25-42: You have already had or you are about to have your touch up.
-
Days 42-365: Your brows should be beautiful and should last at least 1 year before your next touch up (Retention will vary per person and is not guaranteed).

What is your recommended aftercare?

-
Right after the procedure, you will blot your brows with a dry cotton pad that is provided in your aftercare kit. You will blot your brows every 10-15 minutes from an hour to soak up drainage, lymphatic fluid, and oils.
-
Before bed on night 1 of your procedure, wash your hands with soap and warm water and pump 2 pumps of Holliewood Brow Soap (provided in kit) in your hands with cool water. Gently wash your brows using your fingertips in a swiping motion following the direction of your brow hair. Do not scrub. Rinse the soap away from your brows with cool water. Allow the brows to dry and apply a rice grain amount of the After Inked ointment (provided in kit) to each brow using a cotton swab or clean finger.
-
You will wash your brows and apply ointment for 8-10 days morning and night.
-
Do not wash your brows and apply ointment more than the instructed amount or longer than the instructed period of time. You should have enough soap and ointment that will last for use after your touch up session.
-
For 2 weeks after your session, be sure to avoid: Getting brows wet other than when cleansing, working out, swimming, saunas, hot tubs, long showers, brow makeup, facial services, direct sun exposure to the face, tanning beds, waxing or plucking brow hair, and picking at or scratching brows.

Is a secondary touch up necessary and how much will it cost?

YES! A touch up session after 6-8 weeks is necessary as everyone heals differently and outcome will vary. Certain areas may not pick up during first session and will need to be refilled. Pigment color may need to be adjusted, brow thickness and more shading can be added. Those with oily skin often require a deeper shade during the touch up session as the oils tend to lighten the pigment. Most importantly, your touch up session is when we refine your brows to ensure it looks perfect and retains the color for the whole year!

Your touch up MUST be scheduled between 6-8 weeks after your initial service (no later than 12 weeks). If for some reason you are unable to schedule your touch up during the requested time frame, you will be charged a $30.00 late booking fee as more work will most likely need to be done to ensure your brows will last as long as expected. A 6-8 Week Holliewood Brow Touch Up will be available for you to book no later than 20 WEEKS after your initial session.

***If you DO NOT schedule a $75.00 6-8 week touch up appointment for any reason after your initial session within the time parameters as stated above, you will be required to book as a new client at full price if you choose to have your brows done at Holliewood Brows & Beauty in the future.***

All new Holliewood Brow clients must book ONE 6-8 week touch up for a $75.00 fee following your initial service. In some cases, additional touch ups are necessary and may be booked on a case by case basis at a rate decided upon by Hollie with Holliewood Brows & Beauty and the client.

Is an annual touch up necessary and how much will it cost?

YES! Luckily, microblading and powder brows are a very low maintenance procedure; however, we do want to see you at least once per year after your initial brow service. At your annual touch up, we will go over the already established microblading strokes and / or powder shading with more pigment and we will make any changes, corrections, or additions that we agree is necessary.

10-24 months after last touch up: $250.00
24 + months after last touch up: $425-475.00 (MUST BOOK AS NEW CLIENT)
